South Africa is a year round destination with something to offer everyone.
Despite having opposite seasons to Europe, South Africa is a year round holiday destination. Game viewing can be great in their winter, when it is dry and bright and easier to see animals. We greatly admire the wonderful work a lot of the Conservation Projects are doing in South Africa (such as the Born Free Foundation’s Shamwari Reserve) and what could be better than having a wonderful holiday as well as contributing to the preservation of some of nature’s most unique animals?
There is a huge choice of accommodation in South Africa, and the standard is invariably high. The properties included in our suggestions are favourites which have the personal touch we consider so important.
Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill in the non-malarial Waterberg area (a 3-hour drive from Johannesburg) are wonderful for all ages and combine really well with Jaci’s Camp in the Madikwe Reserve (also non-malarial). Jaci’s Camp has two lodges – Safari Lodge and Tree Lodge – with good game viewing, impeccable service and an excellent children’s programme.
Mala Mala has an open border with the Kruger Park and their camps are some of our favourites – great game viewing, brilliant rangers and trackers, excellent accommodation with special touches (bedrooms with two bathrooms – we love this!)
Horizon Horseback Adventures – a working ranch in Africa. Wonderful riding, beautiful location, game viewing, polocrosse and a real houseparty atmosphere. The number of repeat clients are the greatest recommendation we can make for this very special place. We love Horizon and we are sure you will too.
In Cape Town, Beaumont House and Rodwell House are two private properties which offer real South African hospitality and immaculate accommodation and service. They provide the perfect base when exploring the lively city of Cape Town and surrounding area. For the Garden Route, please see our suggested itinerary. The Cape is absolutely stunning in the South African Spring (our Autumn) when all the flowers are in bloom – we have a nice itinerary for this.
Whether you are looking for a wildlife experience, a riding safari, some serious pampering, whale watching, shopping, wine tasting or snorkling - this is the country to do any or all of these.... And so much more!
At Shellseekers we take care of all the details – itinerary, car hire, transfers, trains, excursions. Please do get in touch to chat about the wonderful options.
