AFRICA Mozambique

Local historian Fort and cannons

The Quirimbas Archipelago consists of 27 islands off Pemba in Mozambique.  The best known island is Ibo Island, which has a fascinating history of slavery and the architecture still offers a evocative insight into this history.  Ibo Island Lodge is a really special place to stay – from which you can explore the island’s past with a local historian.  The Lodge itself offers comfortable, breeze-filled rooms, long verandahs on which to sip a drink and enjoy the view, unobtrusive service and quiet corners to sunbathe or just relax.  For those wanting more activity, there is diving, fishing, kayaking and mangrove forest excursions, and sailing dhow safaris and sunset cruises.

The Quirimbas Archipelago is one of the secret jewels off the coast of Africa and we do recommend that you go quickly before too many people discover this delightful destination.

IboIsland is the perfect end to a safari in Tanzania, Kenya or South Africa.
