AFRICA Kenya
Kenyais home to the safari and the Masai Mara is one of the best destinations in the world for game viewing. The majesty of the Masai Mara, spreading as far as the eye can see with misty mountains in the distance is one of the most magical sights in Africa. Spending time at one of the camps within the Mara itself is the best way to immerse yourselves in the intricate and fascinating wildlife of the area. One of the 4 Governor’s Camps is the perfect base for your Masai Mara experience.
Of course, Kenya is not just game viewing and there are many other reasons to visit. Our “Lions and Lakes” itinerary combines staying in a charming Colonial home on Lake Naivasha, the Masai Mara, and ends at Lake Mfangano Lodge on Lake Victoria. We really like the contrast of scenery, activities and accommodation included in this itinerary and all the Governor’s Camp properties are privately owned and run. Once again, we like the personal touch!
Although Kenya is primarily known for its wildlife, the variety and quantity of bird life around all the suggested lodges is amazing. At Lake Naivasha a bird enthusiast could spend the entire day boating gently in the reeds of the lake being enthralled by the variety of bird life on shown. Similarly, the Masai Mara and Mfangano Lodge will delight anyone with an interest in ornithology.
To perfectly round off this holiday we suggest a night in Nairobi and a few days on a wonderful white beach in Zanzibar.
Our “Lions and Lakes” itinerary can be modified to your specifications but our personal opinion is that it is much better to spend enough time at each place to really enjoy your stay (we are not fans of “if it’s Tuesday it must be Belgium” type holidays!
Of course, we are happy to create a Kenya itinerary just for you.
